Ho Chi Minh City – Vietnam

We arrived in Ho Chi Minh city by bus from Da Lat. We checked in at Dai Huy Hoang Hotel which was in a backpacker area, near to the vibey restaurants and bars.

We were back to being very hot and humid again all day and night, quite a difference from Da Lat. We decided to view the city from the Saigon Sky Deck, which is on the 49th floor of the tallest building in Ho Chi Minh city, the Bitexco building.

We caught the local bus, which cost us 6000 Dong each (approx R3.75) for a bus ride to Suoi Thien Theme Park, which was about an hour outside of town. We could not believe how cheap the bus was, and even though it was very delapidated, it had aircon, which was awesome.

The themepark is a Buddah themed park, with many amazing statues. The park was empty, and we seemed to be the only foreigners on the bus and in the park.

We spent hours admiring all the statues in the park. There were also rides, and one that we went into, was the Harry Potter castle, which had loads of animatronic creatures inside, and special effects. The castle was a ‘scare house’, so was super fun getting shocked and scared around every corner.

Ho Chi Minh city was the last city we visited while in Vietnam. We only spent a few days in the city before we organised bus tickets to take us out of the country to Cambodia. Only a six hour bus ride and we would be crossing the border into Cambodia!
